Suzanne Savage

Suzanne Savage is a professional singer-songwriter and violinist from Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Suzanne grew up listening to rock music and studying classical music, and was always keen to push musical boundaries - her sophisticated vocal technique and respect for the past, her stage presence, her love of Irish music, jazz and the avant-garde has led her on many very different musical journeys. Examples include from age 18 performing with her funk-fusion band on national television, being nominated Best New Live Act at London's Knowledge Drum and Bass Awards in Nov 2003 with the band Spree, performing in Nov 2004 a self-penned song live via satellite linkup from Belfast to Rome before Mikhaeil Gorbechov and Nobel Peace Prize winners (whilst being accompanied by the prestigious Orchestra of Florence and some of Northern Ireland's very best young traditional musicians), to performing as principle vocal soloist with Riverdance's Avoca winter European Tour 2005.

Suzanne graduated with honours from the Queen’s University in 2000 as a Bachelor of Music, and work with local artists in Northern Ireland led to her working as a session musician. She became backing singer for BBC TV programmes and music producers, including Ministry of Sound and Elenor McEvoy; working internationally as a jazz singer with her quintet Giant Steps (highlights included personal invitation to gig with Van Morrison), and playing U.K. and U.S. showcases with Spree, and premiering new composers’ works.

Winning a scholarship to work with the renowned Benetton-sponsored ‘think-tank’ FABRICA music department in Italy, Suzanne was co-writer and performer in an international multi-media piece called ‘Credo’, created by Italian composer Andrea Molino with sections composed by small groups of hand-picked musicians from Belfast, Istanbul and Jerusalem. Suzanne subsequently appeared as a soloist at live stage productions internationally and has produced collaborative recordings as a singer-songwriter to be released in early 2006 as part of the FABRICA MUSICA series and other projects on an independent basis. Additionally, a film score for FABRICA Video, a road safety campaign, is currently showing on Italian television and her soundtrack to a documentary about Sharpeville in South Africa is being completed. Most recently, Suzanne has performed as the principle vocal soloist with the Avoca company of Bill Whelan’s Riverdance show during their 2005 European Tour.

Suzanne is now promoting her original song-writing material, and looks for the best in representation for this project with a view to collaboration with FABRICA.
