Few demos feature a symphony orchestra live from across the world via satellite link-up to three different countries.
Suzanne Savage´s song My Friend (track 09) was given its world premiere as a solo highlight within a larger work called CREDO: The Innocence of God, by Italian composer Andrea Molino. It featured her performing her song live in Belfast simutaneously with the Badische Staatskapelle (State Orchestra) of Karlsruhe, accompanying live in Germany, which was transmitted via satellite link-up also to Istanbul, and Jerusalem. Credo has since been performed in Rome in Nov 2005 (for the 2004 Nobel Prize Summit) and Brisbane, Australia in July 2005 (for the opening of the Queensland Music Festival).
You can see the live performance of the song´s premiere on 30th April 2004, by putting the multimedia demo CD into your computer.
This demo CD is the result of Suzanne´s residency at FABRICA, Benetton´s creative think-tank in Treviso, Italy. In January 2004 she was invited on scholarship on the strength of her songwriting, and her voice.
The eight songs on this demo CD were recorded in Venice, at her home in Belfast, FABRICA, and Basel, Switzerland. She has been lucky enough to invite fellow FABRICA resident artists from all over the world to feature in this project: Ireland, Germany, Italy, Australia, China, Africa, America, New Zealand, Japan.
Her style is ecclectic, embracing folk, rock and jazz in subtle ways; however throughout the different moods within this demo, one thing defines and connects the songs: Suzanne Savage´s unique voice.
The opening track, Sunshine, is a warm, jazzy tune which doesn´t lose sight of her Belfast roots with its subtle bodhran pattern and her distinctive vocal phrasing.
The next, Quiet Room, features her delicate string quartet arrangement performed by the Venice Conservatory String Quartet. Also on this multi-media CD is FABRICA video artist Ben Tseng´s pixel graphic animation of the song.
Suzanne´s other song arrangements range from guitar band to the simple and understated, for example the quirky Can´t Say with its bassoon and guitar, or Miracle Woman with its Rhodes and Wurlitzer, to the trad fun of the catchy Jump the Hedges where she plays fiddle alongside one of Ireland´s brightest young trad stars, uilleann piper Jarleth Henderson.
Suzanne is now looking to find the right co-producer, to help in the promotion and distribution of her music. This demo is just a sample of her repertoire. If you would like to find out more, please contact
